When V reached out to me inquiring if I had her chosen wedding date available, I had to do a double take. The date she shared with me was only 3 weeks away. She then mentioned that she had booked time at the Taughannock Falls Overlook for their ceremony.
I had intentionally not booked anything on their date, because let’s be real, the 2022 wedding season has been my busiest season yet, and I was going to take a well deserved day off.
But, I let V know I had the day open and I asked her to hop on the phone so we could talk a bit more about what she was thinking. She explained that she understood it was short notice, but she was really wanting to marry her best friend, M. She listed out her reasons: because they wanted M’s brother in attendance, who is active military and about to be stationed across the country; because they had gone back and forth about having a large wedding, but really wanted the day to be about them; because now it just felt right. The planned on about 30 guest, all their closest friends and family.
Of course, I was absolutely on board. I shared with V all my resources to help her plan and pull together details of her small wedding. We collaborated on finding a place for dinner that would host them and their small guest list, and worked on a timeline for the day. She opted for the overlook at Taughannock Falls because in October, it becomes one of the most stunning waterfalls in New York state.
During their ceremony there was laughter, tears, and V’s cathedral veil decided that it was in love with the wind, so V’s mom had to hold that for her. They also had a few extra spectators, visitors to the falls who were kind and respectfully remained above the balcony area for the ceremony.
Enjoy these moments from their wedding day at Taughannock Falls!
